2017 End of Year Round-Up

2017 was another great year for 101 the 80’s. We want to thank all who tuned-in during 2017 to great 80’s music.  We have more in store for 2018. Looking back on 2017 we continued our trend in attending great 80’s artists such as the The Romantics, B-52’s, Richard Marx, and Rick  Springfield who have not missed a beat and still sound terrific. Equally amazing were the 80’s tribute bands that put on great shows.  101 the 80’s favorites such as the The Legwarmers, Live Wire: AC/DC, Unchained: Van Halen, The Stranger: Billy Joel, Girlfriend in Coma: The Smiths, Trial by Fire: Journey are just a few of the bands. We are pleased to add these bands along with many others 80’s tribute bands to our website calendar where you can check them out at various venues. In 2018 we plan on expanding the calendar to other cities where other 80’s tribute bands perform.

In 2017, we lost great artists that not only had hits in the 80’s, but other decades. Tom Petty was one of those artist whose terrific music spanned generations. Recently, Pat Dinizio of The Smithereens who was a influence of many musicians such as Bruce Springsteen and Kurt Cobain. Malcolm Young, the great guitarist and one of the founders of AC/DC. Grant Hart, drummer/singer of Husker Du a great 80’s independent/alternative band. All will be missed.

As we say goodbye to 2017 and ring in 2018 101 the 80’s will always bring you the best in 80’s music and events. Stay tuned in for more in store as we embark on our 80’s journey that will go one forever.
